Manuel was our dive master again.

Palancar Gardens

This was yet another very impressive wall dive. There were lots and lots of hard corals here, including one enourmous brain coral. This dive also had lots of good swim throughs.

Attack of the Cruiseboat People

The Death Boat

The very first day we were diving we cruised by the pier and saw one cruiseboat. We did not realize this was a highly unusual occurance, there are usually about five, three or so at the pier and more offshore. The first day at Playa del Sol we couldn't figure out how the place would stay in business. We soon found out. Every few days they get gobs and gobs of cruiseboat weenies coming down to eat lunch and absorb the "culture" (the "culture" appears to disappear when there are no tourists in site). This big ass ugly boat hauls a horde of them down here and a bunch more show up by cab or bus. I anticipate this very seaworthy looking craft will be a good wreck dive sometime soon. The tourists rent jet skis for overpriced short rides, one of them managed to hit somebody on the beach one day as they were trying to return the jet ski. It looked like the unsuspecting sunbather had a broken leg. He got carted off in an ambulance (fun end to his vacation I'm sure). Others snorkel the sandy bottom of the swim area.:w

Gary Angelfish

Gray Angelfish

This was another shallower fish dive. There were big schools of tropicals everywhere. Some of the fish can be convinced you have food for them if you take your glove off halfway and wiggle it. This is also a good way to get them to bite your finger (so don't try this with a parrot fish if you enjoy having your finger attached to the rest of your body). I think by coincidence most of our group (six of us today) played with the same angelfish such that it got so worked up that when the last diver came by it swam up and bit his finger.
